This setting allows you to make calls through your carrier and have those calls billed on the carrier’s side. To configure this functionality, you need a phone number rented or purchased from the carrier through which you want to make calls.
Configuring this functionality imposes certain limitations.
Disadvantages of call billing configuration
There will be no carrier redundancy in case the primary carrier fails.
Our service normally provides a backup carrier in case the primary carrier experiences an outage. The number of outgoing call lines will be limited by the phone number itself.
Most numbers you obtain from us already have additional channels enabled, which reduces the risk of lost calls to zero. With this configuration, you will need to monitor the load on the number yourself and add additional carrier channels when necessary. The caller’s number will not be passed when calls are forwarded to a phone number.
For every call, we make sure that the phone number is correctly passed from the carrier to your manager. With this configuration, a manager receiving a call on a phone will see the number specified in the billing settings, meaning the number through which the calls are routed.
Phone number requirements
The number must support multiple channels.
This is required to successfully make all outgoing and Callback calls. The number of channels determines how many calls can be initiated or received simultaneously on the number.
The number must not block calls made to or received from our service.
Some carriers may block calls for various reasons. If, after configuring the settings and making a test call, you see the call in the call log with the status “With errors”, you need to contact the support team so they can diagnose the issue and check the project settings. The phone number balance must be positive.
Since the calls will be routed through your carrier, the communication services will also be billed by your carrier. For this reason, the phone number balance must not be zero or negative. The number must be connected to our PBX using login/password registration.
A virtual SIP number can be connected to the Ringostat PBX in two ways: using login and password registration or by using static call forwarding to our telephony server.
Call billing through your carrier can be configured only if the number is registered using a login/password.
This functionality is not limited by rule type and can be configured both for rules based on the caller and for rules based on the call destination. To do this, create the required outgoing communication rule and select your number in the “Single outgoing number” section. Then expand the “Advanced single outgoing number settings” section and fill in the additional fields. If the billing parameters are not displayed in the advanced settings, it means that you selected a number purchased from Ringostat rather than your own number.
Fill in the form as follows. The example below shows how to configure a rule based on the call destination.
Select the destination
In this field, specify the country calling code for which the single outgoing number will be assigned.Select the phone number
In the “Single outgoing number” section, select the phone number through which outgoing calls will be made. Then expand the “Advanced single outgoing number settings” section.Use for billing outgoing and Callback calls
This setting ensures that all outgoing calls to customers are routed through the carrier that owns your phone number. If you do not enable this setting, you will only configure this phone number to be displayed to customers during outgoing calls.Use for billing when forwarding to a phone number
This setting is required to route calls through us to your managers. When this option is enabled, calls forwarded to your managers will also be routed through the carrier that owns the number. If forwarding to SIP accounts is used, this setting will be ignored because calls to SIP accounts are not billed. The setting is used only when calls are forwarded to phone numbers.Configure the prefix
In the “Delete prefix” and “Add prefix” fields, configure the number format that will be passed to the carrier according to the carrier’s requirements.
We strongly recommend checking with your carrier which number format should be used and providing this information to the technical support managers so they can configure it correctly.Check that all settings are correct and save the rule.
